Non-inflammatory edema:
Non-physiological acute udder or mammary edema before and after calving, cardiac edema, pulmonary edema, cerebral edema, preputial and scrotal edema, limb and wound edema after injuries or surgeries, parasitic edema.
Fluid accumulation in body cavities:
Ascites, hydrothorax, hydropericardium.
Other indications:
Support of forced diuresis in cases of poisoning; exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage in racehorses (EIPH); stimulation of diuresis after blood volume replacement in cases of oliguria due to shock syndrome or acute renal failure; short-term collection of urine samples (cattle, horses).
The use of diuretics is mainly a symptomatic therapy. Specific treatment of the underlying disease must not be neglected.
